Hub Redevelopment

We know we have a fantastic community space at the Hub but recognise that over time the building is getting tired and in need of more and more repairs. We also see the huge potential it has to enable us to do more activities, welcome more groups and offer more services, if the spaces were only able to be used more effectively.

So, we are looking to make some big changes including...
- carrying out a makeover of the large kitchen
- overhauling the toilets (including the disabled bathroom)
- expanding the cafe space and creating a new cafe kitchen and servery
- double glazing the building throughout.

We've made a start - kitchen changes

Those of you familiar with the Hub will know that the large kitchen REALLY needed some love and attention. We're happy to say that we've made a start on this with phase 1 of our plans . Whilst the pandemic has kept the building rather quieter than usual, we've had a team of volunteers in ripping out the old kitchen.  In January, the workmen managed to get in and replace the worn, dated cupboards, extended the preparation and serving areas and put in a new water boiler.  'Before' and 'after' the sledge hammers got to work can be seen below... along with some snaps of the shiny new installations. (We've still some work to be done in finishing off the space, but oh, what a difference already!)

It all costs money....

Obviously all these plans come at a cost! So far we've raised nearly £70k in terms of some generous gifts towards the work and are now looking to raise a further £300-400k via grant funding, gifts and crowd funding.

In 2021 you can expect to see us commencing the crowd funding. In the meantime if you'd like to donate to the work that would be absolutely brilliant - contact the Hub office and we'll give you all the necessary details.
